Having served an organization with a similar mission while living in St. Louis, Will felt a natural connection to Bethany House and is our newest board member.
After serving as Executive Director for four years, Michele stayed on to assist with the transition to a new ED. Nearly 30 years later, she’s our longest-tenured staff member.
Bethany House is a long-term shelter in Northwest Ohio for victims and their children who are escaping domestic violence.
Most shelters offer short-term stays in dorm housing, but Bethany House is the only Toledo-area domestic violence shelter that offers long-term, apartment-style transitional living. Many survivors are with us for more than a year.
Bethany House provides the services, tools, and resources survivors need to rebuild their lives. All FREE of charge.
Since 1984, Bethany House has served more than 2,000 individuals and provided more than 300,000 nights of safe shelter for victims and their children escaping domestic abuse in our area. Annually, we serve an average of 30 families.
Bethany House is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, and a member of Sylvania Franciscan Ministries and Northwest Ohio Community Shares.
The mission of Bethany House is to empower survivors of domestic violence and their children by providing long-term transitional shelter and advocacy to maximize safety, ensure access to resources, and restore hope with dignity and respect.
Bethany House is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St Francis of Sylvania, Ohio and we follow these important core values:
REVERENCE
We welcome all domestic violence victims regardless of ability, age, national origin, race, color, ancestry, family status, religion, sexual orientation, gender, or gender expression. We honor and respect each individual’s right to live a violence-free life.
SERVICE
Our focus is providing shelter, protection and support services to domestic violence victims and their children. We serve as advocates for our guests, and we reach out to domestic violence victims in local homeless shelters.
STEWARDSHIP
We work to be transparent in the governance and management of the ministry, adhering to responsible grant management and fiscal checks and balances. An annual audit is prepared and presented to the Board of Trustees.
COMMUNITY
We realize the importance of relationships and work to end domestic violence in our community. By helping survivors and their children, we strengthen our world and give life to our mission.
