Staff Profile: Stephanie, Youth Program Coordinator

If you haven’t met Stephanie Potter, you’re missing out on her big smile, infectious laugh and passion for serving others.

Stephanie joined the Bethany House team in 2016 after seeing a job posting that “spoke to her heart” and applying.

As Youth Program Coordinator at Bethany House, she uses her personal experiences to connect with our participants on a deeper level. Working closely with those who’ve suffered at the hands of an abuser has contributed to her own healing journey as well.

Read on to learn more about Stephanie and what’s in store for her in 2024.

What excites you about the mission?
The service! I love being able to help people break down the barriers related to their trauma. It’s a rare gift to be a part of an organization that genuinely cares about its constituents and allows me to bring my own strengths to each relationship I build.
How does your background impact your work at Bethany House?
My past personal experiences allow me to connect with our participants on a deeper level. Working at Bethany House has allowed me to grow and accept what I experienced, while ‘Trusting The Process’.
What is a 2024 goal you are most excited to work on?
I am so excited to expand my education at Lourdes, working toward a Bachelor’s of Social Work. This degree is especially personal for me, due to my own DV experience. I look to forward adding new skills to my toolbelt to better help our participants.
What is the biggest challenge facing those we serve in 2024?
In any year, the biggest challenges for each participant are facing personal demons, ‘Trusting The Process’, and coming out the other side without blaming themselves for their experience.
