For nearly 13 years, Bethany House has been guided by the steady, compassionate leadership of Executive Director Deidra Lashley. Today, we share a bittersweet but meaningful update as Deidra prepares to step into a new chapter.
Her time at Bethany House marks the longest tenure of any Executive Director in our organization’s history. That alone is worth honoring. But what truly defines her leadership is the impact she’s made alongside all of us.
Together, we have seen remarkable growth.
During Deidra’s tenure, Bethany House increased its number of donors by 1,500%. Contributions, foundation support, and grant revenue grew by 200-300%. Over the past decade, the organization generated record-breaking net profits, reversing prior losses and building a strong financial foundation for the future. Most importantly, services expanded to reach 100% more families in need.
These milestones were not achieved by one person alone. Under Deidra’s leadership, and with the dedication of our staff, the guidance of our board, and the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners like you, Bethany House has grown in meaningful ways.
As Deidra shared, it has been “the honor of a lifetime to be a part of this vital mission.”
Now, she is answering a new calling.
Deidra has accepted the role of Executive Director of the Sylvania Franciscan Foundation. The Foundation supports survivors of human trafficking, immigrants and refugees, and social justice initiatives, while also caring for the earth. This mission closely aligns with the work she has championed throughout her career.
While this transition marks a change in leadership, it’s not a goodbye to the mission we share. The Foundation continues to support Bethany House as one of its legacy ministries, meaning Deidra’s commitment to this work carries forward in a new way.
“While Bethany House will always be near and dear to my heart, I won’t be too far away as I help lead the Sylvania Franciscan Foundation’s mission and continue supporting its legacy ministries, including Bethany House,” Deidra said.
Bethany House is moving forward with a clear and steady plan. A leadership search is underway to ensure continuity and long-term stability. Deidra will remain in a full-time role through March 31 and will continue part-time afterward to support staff, fulfill grant obligations, and assist during this period of change. Her planned last day is April 30.
We also invite you to join us on April 20th for Celebrity Wait Night as we celebrate Deidra and all she has helped build.
For more than 40 years, Bethany House has served survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. That mission remains unchanged, and our commitment to this community continues as we move into this next chapter.
As we look ahead, we do so with gratitude for the past and confidence in the future. We invite you to stay engaged, continue your support, and be part of what comes next.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
